The Launch of the CARS Erasmus+ Project
December 2023
Welcome to the exciting world of the Children as Creators of Augmented Reality Stories (CARS) project! Officially kicking off on December 1, 2023, CARS is a groundbreaking Erasmus+ initiative that brings together educators, technologists, and researchers from Malta, Spain, and Cyprus. Over the next 33 months, we’ll be exploring the powerful intersection of language learning and Augmented Reality (AR) technology.
What is CARS?
At its core, CARS aims to transform the language learning experience for children aged 10 to 16. Through innovative storytelling practices supported by AR, students will step into the role of creators, crafting and sharing immersive stories in languages such as Greek, Maltese, and Spanish.
Our Vision and Goals:
Empowering Educators: We aim to equip teachers with the digital and pedagogical skills necessary to seamlessly integrate AR into their classrooms.
Enhancing Learning: By turning students into creators, we seek to make language learning an engaging and enjoyable journey.
Research and Impact: Through comprehensive studies and teacher feedback, we will assess AR’s potential to enrich language learning across diverse educational contexts.
Collaborative Efforts Across Borders
The CARS consortium features a diverse group of partners, including:
University of Malta: Leading the project with its rich experience in educational technology.
Universidad de Burgos (Spain) and CYENS Centre of Excellence (Cyprus): Providing expertise in pedagogical frameworks and AR technologies.
Partner Schools in Malta, Spain, and Cyprus: Bringing direct classroom implementation to life.
Looking Ahead
Our journey begins with setting up the infrastructure, designing teacher training programs, and developing AR storytelling resources. Stay tuned as we share updates, success stories, and findings from our collaborative efforts.
