A New Publication Milestone
January 2026
Our learning platform is now live!
January 2026
January began with an exciting milestone for the CARS Project EU, as the consortium celebrated the publication of a new research article titled “Augmented Reality for Story-Related Activities in Primary and Secondary Education: A Systematic Review” in the journal Universal Access in the Information Society (Springer).
This publication offers an important overview of how Augmented Reality is being used in story-based learning across primary and secondary education, drawing attention to the opportunities AR creates for engagement, creativity, and language learning, while also acknowledging the practical challenges that educators may face when adopting emerging technologies in the classroom. By mapping current practices and identifying future directions for learning design, the article contributes to a growing body of research that supports more thoughtful and effective uses of AR in education.
For the CARS Project EU, this milestone is particularly meaningful. From the outset, the project has aimed to promote AR as a medium through which children can create and share their own stories as part of their language learning experience, while also supporting teachers through technical and pedagogical training and sharing findings with the wider educational community. The publication of this article reflects that wider mission, reinforcing the project’s contribution not only in classrooms, but also in research and dissemination.
It also highlights the strength of the collaboration behind CARS. A heartfelt thank you goes to all project partners across Malta, Cyprus, and Spain for their continued commitment, expertise, and shared vision. As the project moves further into its dissemination phase, this publication marks a strong start to the year and an encouraging reminder of the value of collaborative, research-informed innovation in education.
